The idea for Jaguarcitos was first created when I was daydreaming. Oftentimes, I'll come up with absurd ideas in my head and I'll think to myself, "why doesn't a movie studio make a film about this?" or "this would be a cool tv series". Making comics has given me the opportunity to allow my ideas to come to fruition. I thought that it would be really cool to have a mariachi family that led secret lives as superheroes.

In 2024, I spent a few months living in Yucatan, and seeing Maya culture and life. I just knew that I had to make these characters come from Yucatan, since Yucatan is a place that I love deeply and know well. It was important to me that characters in this series were seen speaking Maya and showcasing their culture, since the Maya (Yucatec) language is an endangered language.
